100% MANAGED BACKUP & RECOVERYMANAGED 24/7/365 BY RED RABBIT SECURITY
Recovery Governance

A backup is not proof of recovery. A verified recovery is.

Recovery Governance is Carrot Vault's managed recovery program, run by Red Rabbit Security. Within it, Verified Recovery is the process that actually restores, tests and certifies your backups. A backup that has not been through Verified Recovery is never described as verified.

The Recovery Governance program

Backup policy oversight

Red Rabbit Security sets and reviews what is backed up, how often and for how long.

Monitoring

Every backup is watched 24/7/365, with a response when one needs attention.

Recovery readiness

Each protected computer's recovery status is tracked, so gaps are found before an incident.

Isolated restore testing

Backups are restored into an isolated recovery environment, never onto your production computer.

System verification

The recovered system is started and checked against what matters to you.

Technician review

A Red Rabbit Security technician reviews the evidence of every test.

Recovery certification

Only a test the technician certifies is shown as passed.

Evidence

The recovery point, duration, checks performed and a screen capture of the recovered system are kept.

Reporting

A formal report of each certified test is published to your Customer Portal.

Verified Recovery: how a backup is proven

A backup job that completed tells you data was copied. It does not tell you the computer can be brought back. Verified Recovery closes that gap by actually recovering the system and having the result certified.

STEP 1

A real backup is chosen

A recovery test uses a successful backup of your device, normally the most recent. The test records exactly which backup it used.
STEP 2

It is restored in isolation

The backup is restored into a separate, isolated recovery environment run by Red Rabbit Security. Nothing is written to your production computer and the restored system has no access to your network.
STEP 3

The recovered system is checked

Carrot Vault starts the restored system and records what it can prove: that it started, reached the sign-in screen, and that the files and folders you care about are present. A screen capture and the test log are kept as evidence.
STEP 4

A technician certifies the result

A Red Rabbit Security technician reviews the evidence. Only then is the test shown to you as passed, or as failed with the reason. Automated checks alone never mark a test as passed.
STEP 5

You receive the report

The formal report is published to your Customer Portal exactly as issued. Its SHA-256 fingerprint is recorded so you can confirm your copy has not changed. A fingerprint is not a digital signature; it is a way to check the file.
STEP 6

The environment is cleaned up

The temporary recovery environment is removed after the evidence is kept. Your backups are not changed by a recovery test.

What you see in the Customer Portal

Recovery status per device

Passed, failed, awaiting review or scheduled, from the recovery test records. Nothing is shown as passed until it is certified.

Evidence

The recovery point, duration, checks performed and a screen capture of the recovered system.

Reports Center

Every formal report, to view in your browser or download exactly as issued.

The free trial includes one recovery verification test after your first successful backup. Restores to your own computers and recovery media are part of paid subscriptions only.
